This endowed fund was established in 2006 with an initial sum
of £250,000 which was provided by the London borough of
Richmond upon Thames.
Thames Community Foundation was charged to raise at least
a further £750,000. Once £1m
of permanent Endowed Capital has been raised the Fund will ensure
that there is a significant stream of grant funds available,
for ever, to support local community groups who wish to improve
the built and natural environment in the London Borough of Richmond
upon Thames.
The first round of grants was awarded in 2007 to six successful
local organisations from across the borough and since then over £30,000 of grants have been awarded.
As the grant making capacity of the fund has increased there will in future be two grant rounds each year with February and August closing dates.
Grants of up to £5000 maximum will be considered in the spring and in the September round larger grants of up to £10,000 may be awarded to outstanding local projects.
Active Fund Development is now underway and already a further
£100,000 of permanent capital has been raised.
